Friday 17 February 2012

All the versions of this article: [English] [Español] [français]

On February 17, 2012, anniversary of the execution of the Italian philosopher Giordano Bruno, a ceremony takes place in his honor on the place where he was burned at the stake in 1600, in Campo dei Fiori, in Rome.

The name of Giordano Bruno is dear to all partisans of Freethought.

Our Italian friends honoured Giordano Bruno unceasingly, even in clandestinity, under the fascist dictatorship.

The “International Freedom of Conscience Manifesto”, adopted on August 10, 2011, in Oslo, at the time of the foundation of the International Association of Free Thought (IAFT) mentions, rightly, Giordano Bruno as an example of the “tireless fight between dogma and freedom of conscience.”

The IAFT spokesmen, on its behalf, greet and support the ceremony of February 17, 2012, organized by our friends of the Italian Federation of the Freethought Giordano Bruno.
